The Air Force Medical Service is comprised of nearly 60,000 active duty, Reserve, civilian, and contract medical and support professionals who are responsible for the care of more than 2.6 million patients.  The Air Force has 63 medical facilities in the continental United States and 12 at overseas locations.  More than 1,700 Air Force medical personnel are deployed to 19 countries and have moved more than 85,000 patients out of the the Central Command area of operations since October 2001.
